I was looking back through some Ranch pics and saw the below trilogy. It caught my eye bc of the way Pebbles was sprawled out in the mud. As you can see here, it’s typical for Pebbles. She always likes to get dirty:

But this was just too weird – she doesn’t love water so I was actually documenting that she got near it willingly! I’m sure that it in no way did this newly found affinity for lakes have anything to do with her being tied to Piper! Maybe that’s why she’s down – hanging on to dear life, dead weight and making Piper drag her. If I’m going in, I’m not going in easily!

“Pebbles, look at that? What is that? It’s shiny and right there at the edge of the water. Don’t you want that? It’s just for you and you’re gonna love it. Everyone is going to be so jealous of you! You just have to have it”

“Where? Oh, I see it! I must have it … It’s MINE!!!”

“Oh, Pebbles. Guess it wasn’t anyth … wait … what’s that over there? OO, there it is. Let’s go get it!”

True to their names, these three jump, smoosh, shrink, kick the enemy, scale new heights, flip, make mad dashes, sneak around corners, scope out trouble, and pick on each other.  Whether its scaling stairs or shoo’ing canine enemies outdoors – they’re up for the task.  As a team, nothing is too big, nothing too scary, nothing too challenging.  They’re always looking for the next adventure.

(Now I’m going to share a million shameless pictures – as their proud momma with the certified right to brag. I’ll even through some cute ones in there so as not to confuse you – they are little love bugs … sometimes.)

(P.S. Don’t forget you can click on each pic to see it bigger!)

Friday I got this email about these 2 mama kitties in a shelter who were just about out of time.  So I asked a fellow foster if she had space for one and I’d help the other.

Amanda:

This pretty kitty is very pregnant.  She’ll soon be a mama and I’m so happy my friend will be able to offer her a wonderful, safe place to raise her family.  Amanda’s got a loud, lovely purr.  She may be a lap cat but with her belly, she hasn’t tried to climb in though she loves to snuggle up against me and plop down for a good scratch.

Jane:

She’s mine! Well, my foster anyways. Greets me at the door, follows me around – just to get a little loving and let me know how appreciative she is to have a warm, happy place for her babies. Can you imagine her being out on her own this past weekend – in 4 inches of snow!!

Last weekend, I traveled down south to visit my Mimi!

Isn’t she adorable!! The best!  Sadly, this blurry awful photo is the only one we took together.  Pathetic isn’t it!  I’m going to be better about that next time.

.

The just under 4 hour drive was uneventful enough.  Gorgeous weather permitted us to roll the windows down and enjoy the breeze – or 70+ mph winds.  Abbi loves the wind in her face … she just plops down, gets cozy, and rests her head on the door where the vibrations lull her to sleep.  Pebbles, on the other hand, suffered from car sickness as a puppy so nowadays, her spot is directly behind the driver. Anywhere else and she panics – climbing over anything and everything to get to “her spot.”

Angus and Piper also got to go.  As Angus is about to have to undergo heartworm treatment, he’s living up his “last days” to the fullest.  The Ranch was a perfect weekend for him and he was so anxious to get there he never sat down. Seriously, he didn’t!  Piper got her own personal space and security in a crate in the back. She was more than happy to not be crammed in the back row between frozen-stiff P and pacing A.

It’s an awesome place – the weekend was going to be full of memories.

(breath-taking view from the back porch)

We arrived, well I did – to freshly baked chocolate chip cookies! About 4 dozen that would barely last us the weekend 😉

.

Mimi has three pets – Maggie, a loveable, pleasantly plump dauschund (VERY pleasantly) and then there’s the two kitties –  Ginger, and Tigger – neither of which were all too happy to have us there.  Ginger is the Bubbas mommy and Tigger their brother!

Punishment

Last week, Mattie had surgery. Bless her heart. I took good care of her.  The day before, I spoiled her by locking the Bubbas in my room and keeping the dogs outside. She roamed around – freely and without hesitation. The day after, I coddled her, loved on her, gave her only canned food to eat (learned she hates that), gave her only dry food!  She’s been staying in a luxury kitty suite for her recovery with room service, daily bedding changes, and a personal masseuse (yep – me!)

.

But the poor girl still hasn’t recovered.  Three big ole stitches crawl up her bare neck.  It’s a sad site.  She’s throwing up daily: her petite system is still trying to get all the anesthesia and drugs out.

.

Though she’s happy rubbing at my ankles, purring with a good scratch – she’ll barely look at me!

.

And to top it all off, she’s being a little rebellious by purposely pooping OUTSIDE of the litterbox.  She’d never done that before. I put an extra box in the room (where she was pooping) – but no … that’s not good enough.  Her anger is obvious. I can see it every once in a while when it peeks through the “love me” mask she’s been wearing.  She’s gonna show me exactly what she thinks of being dropped off at the vet and operated on!  I’m thinking tonight I’ll be putting a tarp down in the room!

.

and I say – hey, at least you don’t have to wear the cone of shame!!
